Weekly Music Chart 2007 - April week 1

No. 1 song: Ivy remains No. 1 for the 3rd straight week with "유혹의 소나타" (Temptation of Sonata). This song scored a chart record 997 points this week, just 3 points shy of a perfect 1000 score. The previous record was Buzz's "겁쟁이" (Coward) which scored 996 points exactly 2 years ago on April week 1 of 2005 chart. Ivy's song was No. 1 on every chart in Korea last week. The only drawback to prevent her from getting a perfect score was that her song was not listed in MTV Korea's chart. Biggest Mover of the week: As expected, Yoon Ha's "비밀번호 486" (Secret Number 486) is the biggest mover, up 26 spots to No. 19 this week. Yoon Ha brings us a unique brand of pop rock music, and she plays the piano very well as seen from her live performances. Her first full Korean album is also doing very well on the album sales chart. Look for this song to crack into the top 10 very soon. Hot shot debut: Veteran Kim Gun Mo, one of the most respected singers in Korea, has our highest debut this week at No. 14 with the title song from his 11th album "허수아비" (Scarecrow). This result already surpassed the title song "Moon of Seoul" from his previous album which only went to No. 20. Even though Kim Gun Mo's popularity and album sales is not what it is used to be, he still got a loyal fan base of all ages. We are seeing his latest album among the top sellers again. He should complete his long awaited return to the top 10 next week. New songs: We have 10 new songs and 1 re-entry this week. Songs to watch out: 8. Lyn - 이별살이 (Separate Life) - Lyn is back to the top 10 with this title song from her 4th album, up 10 spots to No. 8. The popularity of this song has already surpassed songs from her 3rd album. Let see if this song can do even better than her biggest hit "사랑했잖아". 17. Evan - 남자도… 어쩔 수 없다 (Man…Are Unavoidable) - Former Click B member Yoo Ho Suk comes back as a soloist and adopts a new name (Evan is his English name). Just like Oh Jong Hyuk (another Click B member who has released a solo album), Even's music is very different from his days in Click B. This song is has an easy listening melody which is a combination of R&B and Jazz. Oh Jong Hyuk's first solo song "죽을만큼…" (Deadly) went to No. 6 last year. We'll see if Evan can match his ex-groupmate's success. 18. Epik High - Love Love Love - 2nd single from the trio's mega-successful 4th album, this song replaced "Fan" on the chart. Epik High continues to please fans with their commercial hip-hop songs and great arrangements. Looks like this is another top 10 hit for them. 27. Kim Dong Ryul - 감사 (Thank You) - Singer-songwriter Kim Dong Ryul recently released a best hit album that included all his greatest hits of the last 10 years. This is one of the new songs. The album is surprisingly selling very well. 34. NoRaJo - 사생결단 (Desperation) - One of the funniest duos in k-pop. NoRaJo reminded me of Country Kko Kko. It's always a joy to watch their live performance. This song is as fun as their debut song "Happy Song" 2 years ago. 47. As One (feat. Son Ho Young) - 다시 내곁으로 (Beside Me Again) - We've heard many duets in k-pop this year and here is another one. It's from As One's recently released special album "5 Love Stories that we know". 4 of the 5 ballads are duets, and this one featuring Son Ho Young is the one than fans want to hear most. 3. (+1) Tei - 같은 베개 (Same Pillow) Arirang TV: This is the title song for Tei's fourth album, "Lover." The medium-tempo ballad boasts a flashy arrangement featuring string instruments. Tei's distinct vocals are wonderfully showcased and it's a song about the moments and memories shared with a lover. The music video stars Lee Wan and shows the actor's friendship with Tei.
4. (-1) Park Hyo Shin - 추억은 사랑을 닮아 (Memories resemble love) Arirang TV: As the title song of Park Hyo-shin's 5th album, "The Breeze of Sea," the lyrical and lovely melody of this track enhances Park Hyo-shin's unique voice, which has become softer and more comfortable than in the past. The artist appears in his music video, which conveys the memories of a beautiful, albeit sad, love.
5. (--) Superjunior-T - 로꾸거 (Ro Ggu Guh!!!) Arirang TV: This is the title song for Super Junior T's single album, "Lo-kkoo-kkau." It's a trott album released by six members of Super Junior - Ie-teuk, Hee-chul, Kang-in, Shin-dong, Eun-hyuk and Sung-min. The upbeat song boasts unique lyrics and fun rapping about how everything in life seems to be going backwards.
6. (--) T - 잊었니 (Did you forget?) Arirang TV: This is the title song for T's 3rd album, "YOONMIRAE." T, Yoon Mirae produced the entire album, effectively infusing her musical colors, strengths and style into each piece. She combines conventional soul with mainstream R&B. With her trademark mid-to-deep, husky voice, she sings about painful love memories that anyone can relate to.
7. (+3) Lee Hyori - 톡톡톡 (Toc Toc Toc) edward1849: The dance title song from Lee Hyori's single album "If in Love Like Them". This single album consists of 3 songs of different genres (dance, R&B, ballad). Those who are familiar with Hyori's music will recognise the style of this song. The song is written by hit makers Kim Do Hoon and Choi Kap Won.
8. (+10) Lyn - 이별살이 (Separate Life) Arirang TV: This is the title song for Lyn's 4th album, "The Pride of the Morning." The minor ballad with a sad-sounding melody was created by Lyn and her best friend, Whee Sung. It effectively brings out Lyn's overwhelming sensibilities, being a song that's almost like a touching monologue of one woman's regret about breaking up with her guy. The music video stars Lyn and model Lee Eon as lovers, showing us the start of their relationship, the passion, the separation and the emptiness that ensues. It portrays a story of love and separation in this sequential way, with three themes.
9. (+4) Seo In Young - 너를원해 (I Want You) Arirang TV: This is the title song for Seo In-young's first album, "Elly Is So Hot." It was written and composed by hip-hop group Uptown's leader, Jung Yun-joon. Seo In-young, a former member of the girl-group Jewelery, presents a track that effectively mixes Latin hip-hop and simple R&B melodies while enhancing the performance of a rhythmical acoustic guitar. The music video was directed by the man known as BoA's brother, Director Kwon Soon-wook.
10. (-3) Wonder Girls - Irony Arirang TV: This is the title song of the debut single album for the Wonder Girls, a group created by singer/composer Park Jin Young. The five-member girl group includes Son-yae, Hyun-a, Seon-mi, So-hee and Yae-eun. Park Jin-young was the sole producer for the single. The song features a hip-hop rhythm and a distinctive and addictive refrain.

(-2) Jang Nara - 사랑부르기 (Calling Out Love) Genre: Pop Ballad Watch the performance Album: Jang Nara Vol. 5 Track 1 - Listen here for 1 minute sample Arirang TV: This is the title song for Jang Nara's 5th album, "She." The soft ballad beautifully showcases Jang Nara's trademark vocal style and voice. It's a touching love story about beautifully embracing the scars caused by a breakup. Recording the song took a reported 10 hours, as the artiste performed the chorus herself as well, displaying unending passion. The piece displays a matured Jang Nara.
12. (-4) MC Sniper (feat. Yuri) - 봄이여 오라 (Oh Spring, Come) edward1849: Title song from MC Sniper's 4th album "How Bad Do You Want It?". This is a mid-tempo hip-hop song that features Yuri's vocal and MC Sniper's slow rap. It is a perfect kind of hip-hop song that will gain mass appeal.
13. (-1) See Ya - 미워요 (Hate You) Arirang TV: As the title song of composer Cho Young Soo's project album, "All Star," this medium-tempo ballad is about the regret and wistful feelings had about a love who has left. See Ya's distinct vocals make the song immensely moving.
14. Kim Gun Mo - 허수아비 (Scarecrow) *** HOT SHOT DEBUT *** edward1849: Title song from Kim Gun Mo's 11th album of the same name. This ballad is a familiar Kim Gun Mo style songs in which we can easily recognize his smooth and laid back vocal.
15. (+4) Magolpy - 비행소녀 (Flight Girl) Arirang TV: This is the title song for Magolpy's debut single album. Discovered by hit-maker Yoon Myung-sun, this new female singer trained rigorously for three years to make her debut. Created while looking up at a clear blue sky, the words are lyrical and almost like they're from a movie. They meld well with the sad melody. A host of huge stars, including TVXQ, Super Junior, Eru and others appear in her music video.
16. (--) Free Style - 수취인불명 (Addresses Not Found) Arirang TV: This is the title song for Freestyle's 5th album by the same name, "Addressee Not Found." It's about the affections felt for an ex-girlfriend and features a perfect blending of orchestration, rap, not to mention, the musical colors of newcomer Jang Han-yi. The music video is about a heart-wrenching love between a poor boxer and ballerina.
17. (New) Evan - 남자도… 어쩔 수 없다 (Man…Are Unavoidable) edward1849: The title song from ex-Click B member Yoo Ho Suk (Evan)'s first album "Hard To Breathe". "Men…are unavoidable" which has a modern melody and lyrics about how men think about love. Evan’s charming voice along with the piano and acoustic tune is a great combination for this song.
18. (New) Epik High - Love Love Love edward1849: Second hit from Epik High's 4th album "Remapping the Human Soul" which has sold almost 100,000 copies. This is the follow up song to their No. 1 hit "Fan". "Love Love Love" is a mid-tempo melody song with a mixture of pop and hip-hop in it. Another great song for Epik High.
19. (+26) Yoon Ha - 비밀번호 486 (Secret Number 486) *** BIGGEST MOVER OF THE WEEK *** edward1849: The title song of Yoon Ha's first Korean album "A great day to propose". "Secret Number 486" is about the younger generation's methods of loving in today's society. This song is gaining much interest because of the fact that Wheesung wrote the lyrics to the song.
20. (-6) Monday Kiz - 남자야 (A Man) edward1849: Title song from Monday Kiz's 2nd album "El Condol Pasa". Monday Kiz continues to give us a familiar R&B tune with their strong vocals. It was composed by Kim Do Hoon and Min Myung Ki - they both composed the song "Only Wind" that was sung by SG Wannabe and Kim Jong Kook. This song was also arranged by Lee Hyung Seung who produced albums for Lee Seung Chul and Kim Tae Woo.

Saw pea n ty last wk at nus. N gt to chat with pae for an hour. Srry ty i cant make it to last wkend outing.
Saw cat today at ntu. N saw cat's bf too! So surprise to c her. She's got braces and grown taller. Haha... Saw Siew Hui too but i couldnt rem her name in time n din gt to talk to her...i was so dizzy n tired after climbin e long slope. But i think she rem me...cos i think she smiled.
Anyway tmr another interview at recuit express. Din wanna go at first cos they wil give me e same form to sign again. So sian...but they say e employer v picky. Even if i go down doubt its e employer who wil interview me. N sti hav to wait for them to post e job to e employer. But its glad to hav lu to acc me.

Weekly Music Chart 2007 - March week 2

No. 1 song: Lee Ki Chan's "미인" (A Beauty) barely edged out Epik High's "Fan" by 2 points (938 to 936) to become our new No. 1 song. "A Beauty" has topped a lot of internet charts in Korea. Lee Ki Chan recaptured the No. 1 spot for the first time since "감기" in 2003. His ballads have always been top in charts, and this time is no different.
Biggest Mover of the week: Lots of new songs from last week made big jumps this week. Ivy's "유혹의 소나타" (Temptation of Sonata) moves up 26 spots straight into the top 10 at No. 9. This is actually Ivy's first top 10 song in our chart. Even though Ivy was named the best new female artist back in 2005, songs from her debut album did not hit the top 10 on our chart back then. She is destined to do much better this time.
Hot shot debut: Superjunior-T's "로꾸거" (Ro Ggu Guh) is our highest debut at No. 32. Superjunior-T is a "project group" spun off from members of Superjunior. The "T" stands for trot (traditional Korean music). Trot has become more popular with younger people since the emergence of Jang Yoon Jung and Park Hyun Bin. The music is very different from what Superjunior has done in the past. Even though this song is not debuting high this week, I expect it to be the biggest mover on next week's chart.
New songs: We have 6 new songs and 2 re-entries in the top 50 this week.

6. Wonder Girls - Irony - Wow! I did not expect this song to move up so fast. It's up 20 spots to No. 6 this week. These 5 young ladies sure got a lot of potential as we can see from their live performances, and they got one of the best producers in Korea in JYP. It is still early right now, but they have emerged as the front runner for best new artists in 2007.
7. Tei - 같은 베개 (Same Pillow) - Tei scored another top 10 hit with his latest song. This song is written by Hwang Se Joon and Cho Eun Hee. They teamed up last year for hits like Howl's "Parrot" and K's "Smile". As I mentioned last week, Tei's title song on every album reached No. 1 previously. Let see if he can do the same this time.
16. SS501 - 겁쟁이 (Coward) As expected, this song made a big move this week, up 16 spots to No. 16. Looks like this fast rising boy band will score another top 10 hit next week.
20. Jadu - 식사부터하세요 (Please have a meal first) - Jadu returns with a digital single, and Jadu has a new male singing partner Maru. Her songs are still very colorful, fun pop hits. This time again is about food. Remember her hit "Kim Bap" a few years ago?
44. Jaurim and Drunken Tiger - Loving Memory - can we call this R&R (rock and rap)? a very creative collaboration from two artistes whose musical paths would normally not have crossed. Kim Yoon Ah's vocal along with Drunken Tiger's rap, definitely a song worth to check out.

No. 1 song: Lee Ki Chan's "미인" (A Beauty) barely edged out Epik High's "Fan" by 2 points (938 to 936) to become our new No. 1 song. "A Beauty" has topped a lot of internet charts in Korea. Lee Ki Chan recaptured the No. 1 spot for the first time since "감기" in 2003. His ballads have always been top in charts, and this time is no different. Biggest Mover of the week: Lots of new songs from last week made big jumps this week. Ivy's "유혹의 소나타" (Temptation of Sonata) moves up 26 spots straight into the top 10 at No. 9. This is actually Ivy's first top 10 song in our chart. Even though Ivy was named the best new female artist back in 2005, songs from her debut album did not hit the top 10 on our chart back then. She is destined to do much better this time. Hot shot debut: Superjunior-T's "로꾸거" (Ro Ggu Guh) is our highest debut at No. 32. Superjunior-T is a "project group" spun off from members of Superjunior. The "T" stands for trot (traditional Korean music). Trot has become more popular with younger people since the emergence of Jang Yoon Jung and Park Hyun Bin. The music is very different from what Superjunior has done in the past. Even though this song is not debuting high this week, I expect it to be the biggest mover on next week's chart. New songs: We have 6 new songs and 2 re-entries in the top 50 this week. Songs to watch out: 3. Park Hyo Shin - 추억은 사랑을 닮아 (Memories resemble love) - Moves up 6 more spots to No. 3, and looks like this song will challenge for No. 1 next week. 6. Wonder Girls - Irony - Wow! I did not expect this song to move up so fast. It's up 20 spots to No. 6 this week. These 5 young ladies sure got a lot of potential as we can see from their live performances, and they got one of the best producers in Korea in JYP. It is still early right now, but they have emerged as the front runner for best new artists in 2007. 7. Tei - 같은 베개 (Same Pillow) - Tei scored another top 10 hit with his latest song. This song is written by Hwang Se Joon and Cho Eun Hee. They teamed up last year for hits like Howl's "Parrot" and K's "Smile". As I mentioned last week, Tei's title song on every album reached No. 1 previously. Let see if he can do the same this time. 16. SS501 - 겁쟁이 (Coward) As expected, this song made a big move this week, up 16 spots to No. 16. Looks like this fast rising boy band will score another top 10 hit next week. 20. Park Hyo Shin comes back after an absence of 3 years and offers us a familiar ballad which he co-wrote himself and showcases his unique low, husky voice to its best.
4. (+1) See Ya - 미워요 (Hate You) edward1849: Featured on songwriter Cho Young Soo's compilation album "All Star", See Ya, being one of Cho's top clients, perform this R&B ballad. This song has a modern melody but an old style arrangement.
5. (-2) ERU - 흰눈 (White Snow) Arirang TV: Included on Eru's second album. The richly emotional ballad was written by the artiste himself. The lyrics are about a man who misses his girl friend on a snowy day. The music video was shot in Sapporo, Japan.
6. (+20) Wonder Girls - Irony Arirang TV: This is the title song of the debut single album for the Wonder Girls, a group created by singer/composer Park Jin Young. The five-member girl group includes Son-yae, Hyun-a, Seon-mi, So-hee and Yae-eun. Park Jin-young was the sole producer for the single. The song features a hip-hop rhythm and a distinctive and addictive refrain.

Ly immediately qn me bout results as soon as i m online but i m so anxious as i haven checked yet. Phew...luckily i din forward any module SERIOUSLY. Gt 2 Cs but it was better than i thought when i failed all sections of mark's test which is half e section of the test. I dont know to study for another half year n gt 2 unexpected As too!!! Haha...i din even gt an A last sem lo.
Hmm...i gt an interview fr job agency tmr at suntec tower at 2. She asked me to bring my friends there...sh, mavis, chew and maybe ll wan to go with me tmr?? I hope ill gt e job for e interview today and most importantly able to work happily. Ll was askin me wan to go c bpco performance this afternoon n i haven reply her yet...ahh. | Summary for January week 4 chart: No. 1 song: ERU's "흰눈" (White Snow) moves up to No. 1 this week, defeating his nearest competition "잔소리" (Scolded) by The Nuts by almost 50 points. Prior to this song, ERU's previous hit "까만안경" (Black Glasses) went to No. 2. He's finally on top this week with this winter ballad. It's not often in kpop that the 2nd song from an album outdid the first song. "흰눈" (White Snow) also helped ERU's 2nd album increasing its sales. The album is finally a top 10 seller now after more than 3 months of release. With 2 great songs in a row, ERU is definitely a rising star to watch out for. Biggest Movers of the week: Big Bang's "Dirty Cash" moves up 23 spots to No. 3 this week, their highest ranked song since debut. They are definitely a big threat to challenge for the top spot against ERU and The Nuts next week.
